Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most from trekkers planning a trip to RWENZORI TURACO VIEW CAMPSITE.

How do I book a trek?
Use the "Book Online" tab to submit a booking request with your chosen package, travel date, and number of travelers. We'll confirm availability and follow up by email or WhatsApp within 24 hours.
What's the best time of year to trek the Rwenzoris?
The driest, most trail-friendly months are typically mid-December to mid-February and June to August. Trekking is possible year-round, but trails can be muddier during the long and short rainy seasons.
Do I need trekking experience?
No prior mountaineering experience is required for most of our packages. A reasonable level of fitness helps, and our guides tailor the pace to your group. Summit routes to Margherita Peak are more demanding and best suited to trekkers with some hiking experience.
What's included in a package price?
Our on-site activities are led by local guides from the community. Group size, gear needs, and exact timings vary by activity — check the specific activity details above or ask us when booking.
What should I pack?
Warm layers, waterproof outer wear, sturdy hiking boots, gloves, a warm hat, a headlamp, and a good sleeping bag are essentials, since temperatures drop sharply at higher altitude and camps. We can advise on a full packing list once you book.
Can I hire gear locally instead of bringing my own?
Yes, gear hire is available through our Porters & Equipment service, including items like sleeping bags, gaiters, and trekking poles. Let us know what you need when you book so it's ready at camp.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation terms depend on how close to the travel date you cancel, since permits and porter arrangements are booked in advance. We'll confirm the specific policy for your package when your booking is finalized.
How do I get to the camp site?
RWENZORI TURACO VIEW CAMPSITE is located in Mihunga, Kasese District. We offer airport and transfer arrangements, or you can see the exact location and get directions on the Maps tab.

Still have a question? We're happy to help.
